The North Wellington Health Care Corporation was formed on September 1st, 2001 through the amalgamation of the Palmerston District and Louise Marshall Hospitals.
We deliver high quality and appropriate health care services through our two fully-accredited hospital sites in Mount Forest and Palmerston. Both hospitals operate 24-hour emergency departments, deliver obstetrical services and provide a comprehensive range of inpatient and ambulatory services. We are a regional provider of primary and select secondary health services to the people of North Wellington County and adjacent counties, Grey and Perth. Located at the south end of Minto, Palmerston is an active community that borders Perth County. As a service community, Palmerston boasts a variety of professional clinics and businesses. The Town of Mount Forest is also a steadily growing community. Since 1996, Mount Forest has grown economically through a significant increase in its industrial sector. North Wellington County offers balance between a rural community with steady residential growth and strong agricultural, industrial and commercial sectors. The county offers a wide variety of cultural, recreational and sporting activities as well - campgrounds, golf courses, fishing, beaches and ski resorts are all close by. Many of Ontario's major centres are within driving distance.
We have invested significant resources for the 2001-2002 fiscal year in equipment, renovations and construction. Comprehensive laboratory services, select rehabilitation therapies and state-of-the-art digital imaging equipment support our clinical operations. Our corporation employs more than 200 highly skilled staff and has an active medical staff of 13 family and general practitioners across both sites. Our local medical staff is also supplemented by specialists who travel to our sites from nearby referral centres such as Guelph, Stratford and Kitchener-Waterloo. Tertiary level services are accessed through Hamilton, London and Toronto.
